BIIF softball/water polo: Honokaa puts up 44 runs in sweep

Honokaa’s Alexis Martinez pitched a four-inning no-hitter and collected three of her team’s 15 hits in a 22-0 victory Wednesday night, then the Dragons walked their way to a 22-8 win to sweep a BIIF Division II softball doubleheader in Puna.

Daggers pitchers walked 16 batters in the second game. Nine came in the first inning as Honokaa (6-4) scored 10 times.

Martinez walked three and struck out two in the first game and delivered two doubles at the plate with three RBIs. Ceelyn Gali-Lucero collected two doubles and three RBIs, Shaela Jardine also finished with two doubles, driving in two runs, Natasha Molina and Aulii Meyer also had two hits and Waiehu Kauahi-Raquel and Kierra Molina doubled.

Destynee Carvalho earned the win in the second game, striking out five in the four inning TKO without walking a batter. She was charged with eight runs, none earned, on six hits. Honokaa committed seven of the game’s 11 errors.

Carvalho and Gali-Lucero had two hits apiece for the Dragons, while Zhy Che Fley and Hope Kamakeeaina had two each for the Daggers (0-12).

Water polo

Kamehameha 11, Waiakea 3: Emma Kanoa tallied four goals and Nani Spaar and Ocean Akau each had two to keep Kamehameha undefeated.

Hilo 11, Keaau 3: Amy Patterson and Keli Hanley each scored five goals to power the Vikings, and Maya Oishi and Kaitlin Macadangdang had two apiece.
